Habitats, Human Impact and Management

Years 5 to 6

Discover our deep connection to habitats of the world.

In this science and geography curriculum-aligned excursion, students in Years 5 and 6 discover how environmental conditions around the world have resulted in unique and diverse habitats. Through immersive digital and exhibition experiences, they consider the impacts of sudden geological and human-induced changes, and how our deep connection with the environment can offer hope.

Students will experience

  • Experiencing a unique immersive digital experience exploring ecosystems of Victoria in the Learning Lab.
  • Visit Our Wondrous Planet, Melbourne Museum's newest exhibition.
  • Exploring the rich diversity of ecosystems and habitats across planet Earth.

Students will learn

  • About key ecosystems across Earth, and how they are shaped by their physical conditions.
  • How sudden geological and atmospheric changes can impact the environment.
  • How humans actions and technologies can manage impacts.
  • The deep connection we have with our natural environment.

Students will be provided

  • Pre and post visit resources.
  • In-exhibition tool to allow in-depth exploration of classification.
